For the second time, the Indie Film Club of Miami stalked, wrestled and pillaged our city for its short films and found some. The festival’s goal is to support local talent. Miami might not have the notoriety, but if we keep doing what we love, we won’t have to move to LA.

Ring master of festivities, South Florida’s only radio talk show host, Jorgue Rodriguez of SoFlo Radio. With special guest Fernando Perdomo of Forward Motion Records.  Musical guest: Travis Duncan. Organic food by Bocaditos food truck. Reception begins at 12:00PM.

Here's something to look forward to on Saturday, January 21st:  the singular robot paintings of Eric Joyner and the irreverent celebrity portraits of UK street artist, Pure Evil.   Eric has taken his robots to the jungles, inspired by a trip to Thailand, and created panoramic visions of them on safari and at play in his incredibly lush, rich painting style.

Above Second is proud to present ‘Obfuscating Stupidity' (aka Playing Dumb), featuring a new series of large scaled to medium sized digital paintings by Hong Kong based artist Sonya Fu, her second solo exhibition at the gallery.

In ‘Obfuscating Stupidity’, Fu illustrates her subject matter with delicate looking figures portraying childlike characteristics in dream-inspired locale. Unlike her previous work, Fu shakes off her solemnness and takes a brighter approach to observe and contemplate social unjust and humanity in a more playful and sarcastic manner. Fu’s creation of surreal composition and frolicsome characters make a prominent contrast against the realistic social issues, piercing the viewer’s mind with the paradoxical wisdom of feigning stupidity.
